What is a printable portrait?
The entire portrait process is done by email, which means the completed product is an emailed image file. You “print-at-home”, which allows you to get creative with your custom artwork. Print it like a photo and hang it on the wall, use it to make t-shirts, mugs or anything else you can think of! Printable artwork is less expensive and gives you the freedom to print your portrait as many times as you like. Price includes face only, choose your own background color.
What size is the printable portrait?
You will be printing the portrait yourself, so I can make it any size you need! I recommend deciding what you want to do with your portrait before requesting a specific size. The standard size is 8”x10” if you do not have a preference.

I want to use my portrait for my business, is that allowed?
No. That Furry Face retains all rights to the images we create. We share those rights with you for personal use, but commercial use is not permitted. Please do not create business cards, logos or any other business related images with our work. That being said, we would love to discuss working with your business to create whatever you have in mind, please contact Britney at design@britneymstanley.com for commercial use pricing and options.
Hand Drawn, Digitally
These portraits are drawn on my iPad, but it's not as simple as using AI or filters to transform the photo. Custom illustrations are made up of shapes that are drawn on top of the photo, essentially tracing the image. Each portrait consists of around 100 layers and contain just as many different colors, perfectly capturing your pet's unique look. The sizing of your pet’s face and features are replicated exactly in the portrait. If you send a photo of your pet looking to the side, the portrait will be at the same angle. As I create the shapes I take colors directly from the photo, so it is important to send examples with good lighting.
If you have any questions about the process, please don't hesitate to ask!

If you are unhappy with your finished portrait please don't hesitate to reach out, I would love to make revisions and find a solution. I want to capture the faces that you know and love! If you have an issue with the print quality of a product let me know as soon as possible so I can make it right!

As this is a custom product there are no returns, exchanges or cancellations.
custom pet illustrations, hand drawn by a human
Local designer, and artist, Britney Stanley, started That Furry Face in 2015 after adopting her rescue pitbull, Broccoli. Each illustration is hand-drawn while Broccoli snores in the background.

That Furry Face began in 2015 after I adopted my pitbul, Broccoli, from the Human Society of the North Bay in Vallejo, California. I love his face more than anything in the world, so of course, being an artist, I had to draw him. My friends loved the drawing and I, as a young, self-employed go-getter started selling them. It began with very simple, minimalist illustrations that were sold as printable images. I would receive the photo, draw the illustration, then e-mail the final product to the customer for them to print however they wanted. I had two items in my Etsy shop, a printable cat portrait and a printable dog portrait. I started participating in Bay Area festivals and markets, soon finding myself in the middle of the local animal rescue/ shelter community. Groups of friends from rescues, staffs at shelters and a couple of super enthusiastic customers helped me spread the word and grow into a unique resource for obsessed pet owners and their gift-giving friends. People asked to have their pet illustrations printed on mugs, canvases, stickers, phone cases, pillows, shoes, even wedding invitations. After a few years off and a relocation to San Diego I'm back in business! We just recently adopted our second chunky boy, Tayto, a copy and paste clone of Broccoli, from Passion for Pitties! People love their pets and I’m so grateful to have found a business that allows me to share that love, amplify it and celebrate it with so many wonderful people and animals.

My intense love for Brock and Tayto is not something unique to our relationship. If you are reading this you probably know exactly how I feel, except you feel it for your own dog or cat (or guinea pig, turtle, snake, horse, pig, ferrett...) and that is why I started making these portraits. The joy inspired by our pets is such a wonderful feeling and I love spreading that happiness around the world. - Britney
Submitting Your Photo
Choose your favorite photo! A straight-on, close-up face shot will produce the best results. Keep in mind, the more detail I see, the more detail I can include! Please do not send photos that have had color filters applied.
